Jedi Master Omar's Journal

25th August, 2004. 7:37 pm. Those We Do Not Speak Of

Hey Y'all!!

I'm back from Scotland now! I had a nice time up there. Well, actually, I didnt really do much, but hey. I did however, watch I, Robot at the Cinema. It was pretty good, but nothing like Isaac Asimov's book of the same name! I also went to see The Village by M. Night Shyamalan. I thought it was very good!! Heed the three laws people, heed them.....

Also rented The Last Samurai - not bad, but not good either.

And thats about all......

See y'all soon!

Omar

(Instead of a Star Wars quote, I will include the three rules from The Village. Because I know you'll love them soooo much)

I - Let the bad colour not be seen. It attracts Them.

II - Never enter the Woods. That is where They wait.

III - Heed the Warning Bell. For They are Coming.

Scary.......

Current mood: scared.
Current music: The sound of Them breathing......

18th August, 2004. 3:48 pm. May the Scotsman be with You

As-Salaam Allaikum,

Am off to Scotland tomorrow (Och Aye), flight departing at 12:50. My sister and I are flying up to meet with my uncle. Kind of a yearly tradition. Should be fun, but I am not looking forward to the flight. I just don't like flying.

Anyway, this will be may last update for a while, and I will hopefully update when I get back. Maybe I'll have some wonderful adventures to write about!

Hold the phone, this is Scotland we're talking about.....

Nah, I'm sure it'll be fun.

On another, albeit geekier note (Hey, it's me!) -

On the 28th of August, the Entertainer will be holding a (what they call) 'Star Wars Saturday'. Basically, to celebrate the release of a new line of Star Wars merchandise, they will be having some sort of Star Wars Freak gathering, with people from a local military academy dressed up as Imperial Stormtroopers.

My kinda day out!

So, it has fallen to me to create a Grand Army of the Re-- Sorry. I was in the mood.....*Ahem* It has fallen to me to create a vote.

If (and I mean if) I can get my hands on something I can pass off as a Jedi Robe, should I wear it to this hallowed event??

VOTE NOW!! Lines open until.........I get dressed on the 28th..............

(By the way, vote by posting comments to this entry!!)

And so, I must go. So long. Farewell. Auf-wiedersehen. Adieu.

But mark my words!! I will be back!!

May the Force be with you, Fellow Jedi.

17th August, 2004. 9:02 pm. What's in a name?? (I can't think of a title......)

Good Evening

Thought I'd update because I need to update. Since I last updated, not too much has changed, though I did meet up with Rick on Monday. He had got back from Germany, so we gallivanted round Camberley, purchasing a copy of Kill Bill 2 (Brilliant!! Go Pai Mei!!) and then went around to every shop with a Kill Bill standee and reserved them for Rick. I have to collect a maximum of four standees on the 30th. Won't I look cool?!

Am going to Scotland in two days. So I won't be able to update at all whilst I'm there, I don't think. I guess you'll have to be content with this, dare I say, mediocre entry.

15th August, 2004. 6:06 pm. Korah Matah Korah Rahtahmah

Evening

Found some great Star Wars trivia that I'm sure all of you desperately want to know about.

(From imdb.com)

The words chanted during the "Duel of the Fates" are from Robert Graves' poem "The White Goddess". "The White Goddess" is a translation of the original version, "Cad Goddeu" or "The Battle of Achren", an early Celtic work of great antiquity also known as "The Battle of the Trees," which was originally composed by Gwion and is found in the "Book of Taliesin", a Thirteenth Century Welsh manuscript . Williams, John' had the lines "Under the tongue root a fight most dread, and another raging, behind, in the head" translated into Sanskrit. The translation sung in the movie is as follows -

Korah Matah Korah Rahtahmah Korah Rahtamah Yoodhah Korah Korah Syahdho Rahtahmah Daanyah Korah Keelah Daanyah Nyohah Keelah Korah Rahtahmah Syadho Keelah Korah Rahtahmah Korah Daanyah Korah Rahtahmah Korah Daanyah Korah Rahtahmah Nyohah Keelah Korah Rahtahmah Syadho Keelah Korah Rahtahmah Korah Korah Matah Korah Rahtahmah Korah Daanyah Korah Rahtahmah Nyohah Keelah Korah Rahtahmah Syadho Keelah Korah Rahtahmah Korah

Duel of the Fates is the main piece of music most associated with Episode I, and is used in the Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon/Darth Maul fight. And if you happen to have the song (guilty pleasure), then check it out with these lyrics. It really is correct!!

13th August, 2004. 7:30 pm. The Nightmare Before Elm Street........or Something

Salaam all,

Just updating, because I feel I need to update.

What a reason...

Today (Friday the 13th!!) marks the opening ceremony of Athens Olympics 2004. It had a nice opening sorta thing, but meh - Im not a 'sports' type of guy. Or a 'Greek' type of guy.

On Tuesday, I watched 'A Nightmare on Elm Street 3', expecting to be scared. Instead, I laughed and laughed and laughed. Laughter is the best medicine after all....

Some fantastic quotes from the movie -

WARNING! Contains obscene language!

"Let's go kick the motherfuckers ass all over dreamland"

(Freddy, to Zsa Zsa Gabor) "Who gives a fuck what you think?"

And the number one quote -

(Freddy has turned into a television (?) and then picks up a girl)

"This is it Jennifer, your big break in TV (SMASH!!!). Welcome to Prime Time Bitch"

Whadda movie. I seriously suggest renting it if you are feeling down and need cheering up.

I apologise for that obscene language used, and thank imdb.com for their unauthorised use of quotes.

Go me.....

On a sadder note, Rick has gone away to Germany and Nats is off to camp. Why do my friends keep leaving me?? Do I really smell THAT bad???

Hey

Candidate 3182 reporting.

Actually, theres not much to report. Today, I did pretty much nowt. We have builders around around (again!). This time they are tearing down the leaking, corrugated iron 'shack' roof and replacing it with a real one. Which is currently wood.

Hmmmmm.....

Last night I watched Mars Attacks, another movie courtesy of Tim Burton. Fun, but worrying. Thats what you get when you watch Burton.

On a more 'unpleasant note', today marks the 59th Anniversary of the atomic mission to Nagasaki. In a year and 6 days, it will mark the very end of the Second World War.

"Dulce et Decorum est, pro Patria Mori"

Hey, it was used for the WWI, but Im not complaining!!

7th August, 2004. 2:06 pm. A German Ostrich's Birthday

Hello all,

Sorry that the update is coming through a bit late!

Anyway, since I last updated, a number of events have taken place. It was my sister's birthday on the 4th, and she got some nice presents from my parents, but the present that I ordered her from Amazon.co.uk (on July 21st!) has decided not to come through until roughly the ninth. Go figure.

On the 5th.......what did I do on the fifth?? Memory blank...

Yesterday (the sixth), myself, mother, father and sister met up with a group of Germans that my dad knows. Nice bunch of people, actually. Its just my viewpoint on Germans has been flawed since the Invasion of Johannes Lack, or he who shall not be named. If you didn't understand a word of that, then never mind.

We went to a pub in Colnbrook called 'The Ostrich Inn' for lunch. The pub interested me, as it was the third oldest pub in Britain, dated back to circa 1106. It is also one of the most haunted pubs in Britain, and was covered on the television programme 'Most Haunted'. Me and the German boy Alex managed to prise an upstairs door open, which led up to the attic! That is the place they showed on TV, and strange things happen up there!

Suffice to say, we ran after seeing how dark it was. What??? I'm not scared....

Anyway, the story of the Ostrich goes a little something like this. A long time ago (in a Galaxy far, far away), there was a landlord called Jarman who owned the place. He was a particularly scummy landlord, and wasn't very pleasant either. Because it was a popular inn, rich people would often stay there. Jarman would accomodate them in the nicest room in the Inn, called the Blue Room. However, this was all part of Jarman's sinister plan. When they were sleeping at night, Jarman would pull a lever which opened a trapdoor under them, and they would fall down into a boiling vat, incinerated before they could make a sound. Jarman would then take their belongings and claim he'd never seen the person who he had 'cooked'. Eventually, Jarman was caught and put on trial, where he confessed to over sixty murders. He was hung.

Rumour has it that Jarman kept a logbook of his killings, and hid it in the attic before he was caught and convicted. People have searched for the book, to no avail. But who knows what other secrets and horrors lurk in the dark shadows of the old Ostrich Inn.....

Mwahahaha! Scared? Are ya? ARE YA??

Also watched the Big Brother final, and was rooting for Nadia to win!!

I wanted -

--1st-- Nadia
--2nd-- Dan
--3rd-- Jason
--4th-- Shell

What actually happened was -

--1st-- Nadia
--2nd-- Jason
--3rd-- Dan
--4th-- Shell

Pretty close!!

So, anyway, those were the highlights of the last few days. Interesting...

Today, not much going on. I am going to see my grandmother who got back from her month long pilgrimage to Mecca yesterday. It'll be nice to catch up!
